DISCOVERY WEEK WORKSHOPS

Ground Zero Printmakers Studio is offering 2 week long printmaking workshops. Each week you will explore different printmaking techniques, come for a single week or both! Join Victoria Edgarr as she takes you through a variety of printmaking methods as you learn a new approach or hone your artistic vision.

Discovery Week 1: Relief, Intaglio and Monoprinting

This week will explore the processes involved in making Relief, Intaglio and Monoprint prints.

Relief prints are produced from a raised surface that has been either cut into or built up. Ink is applied to the surface and then printed.

Intaglio is a printing technique that requires the artist to cut, scratch or gouge into a printing plate. Ink is pushed into the lines of the design and the surface is wiped clean before printing the image.

Monoprints are printed images that are made only once. Monoprints are made in a variety of ways and always result in one single unique print.

Discovery Week 2: Etching

Week 2 explores the world of etching. Spend a week learning the processes involved in creating an etched plate and printing an edition. Taught by Master Printmaker Victoria Edgarr, you will explore this very traditional printmaking technique while creating a modern art piece.

Pleasures of Printmaking June 13 - 17, 2016
Five Days Of Image Making In 3 Generous Printmaking Mediums: Aluminum Collograph, Relief Reduction and Stencil Monoprinting.

Multi-Media Litho Album Projects
Create an album of prints from digital and direct sources, including text, glazing and
chine-collé and simple binding techniques.
During this week we will explore the unique possibilities of polymer litho as a basis for
creating a suite of original thematically prints, from digital and direct sources, including
text, glazing and chine-collé and simple binding techniques.

Multi-Media Monoprint
Learn and explore oil-based and water-soluble monoprint techniques for rich works on paper. Mark- making, collage painting, drawing, and layering with stencil, direct transfer, chine- collé, hand colouring and marouflage mounting.

All about Etching
4 days getting to know etching-plate making.
Mix and match etching techniques, biting deep, multiple plates, scraping back and biting again!
Learn and practice hard & soft ground etching, aquatint, sugar-lift, multi- layering for painterly and sculptural effects. Work with fresh plates and/or rework your old ones.
(Some previous printmaking experience required)
