Multi-Media Monoprinting July19 to 23, 10am to 4pm

There are a couple of places left in this full week art making workshop

Multi-media Monoprinting incorporates several printmaking techniques in the same sheet of printing paper. The unique rich look of these prints is achieved by building the image in layers, the paper passing several times through the press.
Participants will compose with “quotations” from their personal repertoire of imagery that exists already in their plates or collographs, stencils, linocuts, with the addition of monoprint glazing, and drawing in direct pressure monoprint, and direct painting monorint.
This July Discovery Week Workshop has been designed for participants with experience in printmaking. We can discuss what level you will be comfortable at.

Fee: $320 week for members/$340 non-members materials included

Victoria Edgarr has been an artist-printmaker for 25 years and has worked extensively with etching, from wall sized monotype works to editions of miniatures. Originally from Montreal, Victoria studied at Dawson College and Concordia University (BFA'80.)  In her printmaking training at la Guilde Graphique, Victoria was influenced by the revolutionary practice of S.W. Hayter, of Atelier 17, Paris, in his fusion of artist and technician, his philosophy of art collaborating with materials, and his semi automatist/surrealist approach to image-making.

August 23 - 27, 10am - 4pm August Discovery Week
will be a three item menu including an intaglio, a relief and a Monoprint selection.
Cardboard Intaglio - Plate making similar to engraving or etching but using cardboard. Learn the subtleties of wiping and printing used also in dry-point and collograph.
Relief Print Miniatures - Using easy-cut, enjoy the excitement of image making through the "Reduction Process". A good process to know for work in silkscreen, lino, woodcut, and etching. Experience the same block image on a variety of paper types and colours.
Multi-passage Monoprint - With this process, images are built up from mists of colour like glazing in painting. Working "plein page" the print will pass a minimum of 4 times through creating a unique effect.
